Raising Attainment For All (RAFA) @ KHS
The Raising Attainment for All (RAfA) Programme was launched by The Scottish Government in June 2014 to support continuous improvement in attainment and achievement through the development of a series of interventions to support pupils. Here at Kinross High School we have embraced the programme and have adopted the Model for Improvement methodology, which is based on the 3-Step Improvement Framework for Scotland’s Public Services to deliver improvement in pupil attainment and achievement. The attached trifold shares our initial planned aims and goals.
Here we seek to share with parents (and pupils) various resources and links to useful information to help pupils achieve and attain their best.
As part of our Mentoring Programme where individual teachers volunteer their time to support those pupils who are encountering challenging across a number of subjects are supported on an individual basis to help pupils plan, do, check and act on their learning. Attached is a revision guide (kindly shared by Perth Academy) that provides pointers to help pupils better plan revision in a style that suits them.
Many departments host Study Group Sessions for pupils to attend in extracurricular time to help address issues pupils are encountering in their own study time. Attached is a list of the study groups that are offered around the school to help with homework, revision and provide opportunities for targeted support.
Last November 2016 we hosted a Parental Engagement Evening showcasing our “Supporting Learners in our Senior School”. Below are a number of resources that were shared on the evening which you will find helpful.
Parental Study Support - A Parental Study Support Guide.
English Support Guide - An English Revision tips and techniques supplied by our English Department.
