1) Particles and Waves.
2) Our Dynamic Universe.
4) Researching Physics.
This course studies the physical world around us in depth and examines how we use physics to investigate our world and beyond. There is a substantial practical element to the course and learners are taught research skills and develop strong numerical handling skills.
Learners are expected to have studied Physics successfully at National five level. If this was not the case entry would be accepted if the learner had shown strong performance in at least one other science at National five level. Good numerical skills, such as a pass at National five Maths, are helpful.
Written exam (3 hrs) = 80%
Practical assignment = 20%
Provides a solid foundation to learn Advanced Higher Physics. Higher Physics is also often an entry requirement for study of many science and engineering based courses at university.
