Chemistry National 5
1) Chemical Changes and Structures.
2) Nature’s Chemistry.
3) Chemistry in Society.
This course studies the world of atoms and bonding before introducing the learner to new classes of chemicals and chemical reactions. There is a substantial practical element to the course and learners are taught good laboratory practise.
Learners are expected to have studied Chemistry successfully at S3 level. If this was not the case entry would be accepted if the learner had shown strong performance in at least one other science.
Written exam (2.5hrs) = 80%
Practical assignment = 20%
Provides a solid foundation to learn Higher Chemistry. National five is also often an entry requirement for further study at college.
