Home Economics Payments

In Home Economics we teach a range of life long skills which have been proven to be very beneficial for our pupils – healthy eating, cookery and sewing.  Pupils who attend Home Economics will spend lessons cooking.  As I am sure you are aware, the cost of food is ever increasing  and to contribute to the overall costs, a contribution is requested annually at the beginning of the session.  Payments can be made in instalments over the year if you wish. There is no charge for those pupils who have entitlement to free school meals.  Without this contribution, we would be unable to offer your child these experiences and we regularly hear from parents/carers and pupils that they value this part of their school week so I hope you feel able to support us in this way.

Pupils will be supplied with a suitable disposable container to take their food home.  (The cost of this is included in the payment amount).  We would ask that you encourage your child to bring home their food, and not leave it to go to waste in the school fridge. All food should be reheated thoroughly at home before eating.  If your child suffers from a food allergy can you please ensure that the school is notified and we will endeavour to ensure that alternative ingredients are available.

Letters were issued to pupils last week in class detailing the annual contribution amount for your young person. The most preferred method of payment is through ParentPay.  Activation codes can be requested from the school office on 01577 867 100.

S1 and S2 recipe books are available to purchase from the department.
